If model can't wear contact lenses.

I have looked at ideas if the model can not wear contact lenses, i was thinking that the using red eyshadow could work instead of the red contact lenses, so it is still dramatic and that it shows the colour around it anyway, as she is tired and she is being controlled, so she is getting a type of fever.

Red eyeshadow, pale face - Make-up - full face makeup:

I want it to look bold and stand out, so not just on the eye lid , but quite far up to the eyebrow, i need to see what works, look on the eyes and what would be the mostt effective. But i think the wet look of it would work, as i want to look more realistic and still be using the makeup look of that era, otherwise it will be coming away from that, so it stays dramatic, but as though she has rubbed her eyes, as she is not in control of her actions and to do so to try and stop herself to succumb to Dracula.

Fever, Sweat and Tears

For this practical i did fever and sweat and i think it went well, but i need to work on it if i did it again, as the fever around the eyes that i created, looked to theatrical as though it didn't go anywhere.

Materials Used:
Supracolor palette
blending brush
Glycerin

As you can see it doesnt end up anywhere, but i like the colour, but blending it a lot more with the brush will make it stand out and how it should look, to me it could look more like bruising with the colouring of the red and purple, but does look blotchy, as when i was doing it the supracolor was coming off a bit, i just shouldnt use so much colour on to it. and i think if i needed to do it again, i would need to practice it to know what exactly i need to do to make it look realistic.

Health and Safety

When using Glycerin, be careful not to get in the eyes.

Mina Murray's Makeup Look

For the character i have chosen that is Mina i want to show her when she is beng controlled by Dracula, after he gives her his blood, so i have looked at various images to show that, such as i want to learn how to create veins on the skin and some how gets some contact lenses to either make the pupils bigger or another colour, to show she is not in control, and that she is a lot different than before.

Veins temporary tattoo makeup effectsI have looked and veins and want to creat that look on her, as though she is being controlled, i want the veins to not look theatrical, but still very bold, and not all over the face like this, but maybe coming down from the top of the head.

love the eyes... looks fairly easy to do:

Theses veins are created with makeup and thats not what i want to do, but this looks theatrical and thats nto what i want, but i thought that the makeup looked interesting and is a look that shows it in a gothic way, and i like the way the veins are created around the eyes and the pale face, that makes the black stand out a lot more.

Researching more of the veins and i found this dress, that does remind me of veins and how they are started in one place. I wanted to show more than just the make up side of it and other things that could look like that.

Creeping Heart, Spencer Gallery Sculpture Exhibition, by Nora (cozyaddict on ravelry).:

Contact lenses, i want to use and i like the thought of red,as Mina is controlled and the eyes i want to show that as well and she can't stop it from happening, and also one of the portrayals of mIna in a film she was a vampire, but i do want to show my own take on it and how i think she would look after this and the eyes that would be red,as Dracula is a vampire and he feeds her, his blood.

For the lips i want to show how the blood has dried on her lips, after she drinks his blood and i want the lips to look dry, so could add latex on it and then the blood. I dont want to add to much blood,as it could look to fake and over the top and she is not a vampire or anything, so i still want her to look slightly human.

practice of Late Victorian Hair

Using heated rollers, to create curls in the hair, and they are put in using wide grips that go with the each colour of the rollers, to secure them in, but there wasn't any that i could use for these rollers, so used clips, which work just as well, but rolled the hair up in them, then done four at the front and two each going downwards in the hair.

This was my practice of doing a bun again, but i found this quite hard, as the hair needs washing and was still quite

I tried to create the curls, like how it was in the Victorian era and was difficult, as had to use a curling iron first, but didn't curl as well, as the hair needs washing and was still really thick to even create something very good, and just securing them with bobby pins, which you can see, and i don't like that.

I think if i did it again, i would improve my skills on curling hair and just practice this, as could use this technique in my character idea.

Once took the rollers out, this is what the hair looked like, and i do need to work on that, and get to know how they done their hair of that era, as i want to finish this practice and then show the skills in my on design.

Practice of Early Victorian hair

What i did first was brush the hair and clip the front back, to part the hair.

Then i did the same on the other side.

I made a bun at the back of the hair, but just using a hair band then twisting the hair around it and securing it with a bobby pin.

At the front with the hair that was clipped back, plaited them on both sides, underneath the ears and up into the bun.

When i do it again though, i need to work on the plaiting of it, as i started it quite high up, but other than that i think that it went well, but i do find it quite hard to do victorian hair, as i have never done it before and they are intricate, in the early era.

This was just what the plait should look like and where about it should be and not started to high up, as this way in the image is the way it would have been done at that time.

Victorian Hair styles

During Queen Victoria's reign 1837-1901, in which the hairstyles changed drastically, which started as one of the styles known as a 'Apollo Loop, that was inspired by queen Victoria, it was styles with a plait attached onto wires, that created loops on top of the head.

Most of the hair was parted in the middle, and braid the side of the hair and added up in to the hair, usually into a bun. Their hair was long as they did not cut it so they wore their hair with ringlets and curls, on the side.

Mid Victorian era, hairstyles became looser and softer, The hair was lower and braids were added up into the buns, some even wore ringlets at the back of the hair.

Late Victorian era the hair was arranged in curls at the back of the head, with ringlets falling out the back of the head, women even wore fake hair pieces that were popular at that time. This time the hair was done with much more intricate braids and a lot of curls.

Victorian Men

Victorian men wore there hair quite short above the ears, at the start of the era. What was most common was facial hair, that was moustaches, side burns and full beards.

Mina Murray

Mina Murray

Innocent,plain,attractive,pure,faithful

Mina Murray is a assistant schoolmistress, who has learned how to use a machine, such as a typewriter. But Mina doesnt believe that she has to be a housewife when she is married, but that a woman should do things that a man would of have done in that era.

In the book she is pure and throughout it never mentions she is unfaithful to Jonathan, but when Dracula controls her by giving her his blood, then it is questioned.

When Dracula controls her i think of:

Pale,Pupils are bigger,veins shown on the face,seductive,breathless,colourful.

I feel as though Mina would be pale, so that he skin seems transparent, so that the veins really show up, as she is being controlled, as though she would be a vampire at that point. The reason i feel she would be colourful is because she wouldnt be her usual self, so she does what he says, even tries not to give into Dracula, as it isn't what she wants at all.

Creping of the skin

Materials used;
Sponge
Latex
mixing pot

For this lesson we used latex to create creping of the skin, which is creating wrinkles on the skin, all we did was pour some latex into a pot and using the sponge dip it in and use a dabbing motion, not sweeping onto the skin, then with a hairdryer making sure it is cool and dry the latex on the skin, until it is clear, then it looks like wrinkles.

This is what my partner that day created on my hand, but i did some of it as well. I really like how it does actually look like it is of a old persons hand, which is what i think makes it look kind of creepy, as it is my hand and shouldn't look like that.

I think i worked well on this and now after i understand how i would do it and how it works. If i did again, i would want to cover a lot of places with it to see how it turned out. On the face though you would have to cover some of it with the makeup to blend it into your skin tone.
